Subject: edit-Domino site on https fails to open in IE8 and IE9
Feedback Type: Problem
Product Area: Domino Server
Technical Area: Administration
Platform: Windows
Release: 8.5.3
Reproducible: Always
We run a small https site for a few of our customers. Due to the size of the site, we've opted to self certify rather than user an 'official' ssl cert. The users get the 'danger danger' page that tells them there's a problem with the site's certificate, they do the 'OK' thing and all is good.
I took a complaint from one of our customers today that the site was down. Looking into the problem revealed that if they hit the site with IE9, they got a 'site not found' error. I just tried it from home and got, instead, the 'bad cert' page. When I click the 'continue to website' link, nothing happens.
If we hit the site with other browsers (IE7 or Firefox), there are no problems logging in.
I tried lowering the security settings to 'low' but no joy.
Any idea what's going on and if I can fix it without going full up on the cert?
Thanks for the assist.
<edit>
I hit the site with IE9 and got the security warning.
My customer tried it with IE8 and got 'Internet Exploer cannot display the webpage' so it looks like a connection problem.
Awesome!
